Indigenous identity is considered an asset for this position.Job Title: Youth & Family Outreach WorkerReports to: Executive DirectorRole:Works with youth aged 10-19 and their families to assess challenges, set goals and make progress on those goals. Helping conversation matched to the needs of the youth and families. Basic mental health supports. Provides young people with an increased sense of community by familiarizing themselves with services and activities within the centre and elsewhere in the community. To contribute to the overall functionality of the Quadra Village Community Centre and its programs/community building.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Works with youth and their families to assess and plan for needs, identify required resources, and support linkagesFacilitates education and support groups with parents/caregivers/youth and other identified community membersFacilitates parent/teen informal mediation (family community meetings)Liaises with caregivers, parents, MCFD staff, and any other relevant contacts/organizationsAssists youth and their families with effective system navigationAssesses youth safety and wellness and provides mental health support as neededAttends community and case related meetingsFacilitates parent support and mentoringFacilitates peer mentoring and support for youthParticipates in/facilitates planning meetingsMakes referrals to community resources and assists with system navigation as appropriateFacilitates goal setting and steps towards attainmentFacilitates constructive, client-centred helping conversations and basic counsellingPrepares regular written and verbal reports as required by the Executive DirectorResponds to general inquiries, by phone and in person regarding QVCC, shares in the physical work of maintaining the centre and helps implement key events.Participates to ensure a safe environment; observes potential hazards; remedies and/or reports to the appropriate personTo be familiar with and implement QVCC’s (Downtown Blanshard Advisory Committee’s) policies, procedures, and practicesTo perform other related duties as required by the Direct Supervisor and Executive DirectorQualifications:Commitment to anti-oppressive, decolonial, and anti-racist practiceAbility to work with integrity and respect in a diverse, multi-cultural community centrePost-secondary degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Child and Youth Care, Social Work or Counselling Psychology or any other degree acceptable to MCFD)A minimum of 2 years related work experience and extensive knowledge of youth and community resourcesHours of Work:This is a job-sharing position at 21 hours per weekIncludes some evening and/or weekend workFlexible schedule based on agency and program needsHour worked on-site as well as within communityBenefits and Remuneration:$28.50/hour and increases with tenure3 weeks paid vacationComprehensive benefits packageincluding Extended Health, Dental, AD&D, Life Insurance, and matching RRSP contributionsafter completion of 3-month probationary periodImmediate enrollment in the Employee & Family Assistance ProgramTraining and Development suitable for positionVulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check requiredClosing Date: July 4thPlease send resume and cover letter to: hradmin@quadravillagecc.com.
