Job Summary:

As the Senior Manager, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional accounting services to our clientele. You will train and develop the technical skills of your direct reports, teaching them all aspects of financial statement preparation, tax return preparation, bookkeeping and payroll processing. You will also review your team members work and conduct their annual performance reviews. We work in a niche market of professional whom we have a business relationship beyond the typical compliance role of the accountant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of accounting services.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and insights to clients, helping them make informed business decisions. A business advisor beyond the traditional compliance role
  • Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support client business planning.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accountants and support staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Delegate tasks and manage workloads to ensure timely and high-quality service delivery.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities for team members.

Qualifications:

  • CPA/CA qualification preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in accounting or a similar role.
  • Proficient in Xero software.
  • Proficient in RCT/Caseware.
  • Comfortable in fully digital work environment.
  • Extensive experience in supervising junior staff and reviewing their work.
  • Experience in management of multiple clients/direct contact with clients.
  • Ability to manage technical reporting of client files, but also the project management of the files (outstanding items, time in file, delegate appropriate tasks).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Mindset of problem solver, coaching clients/staff, how to improve workflow/quality of work.
