Job Description

THE ROLEOur client in Cambridge is looking for a TIG & MIG welder for production and repair tasks on thin metal gauges. Fabricate using metal shaping machines, develop tooling, jigs, & fixtures. Finish by grinding welded parts, buffing with Storey Buffing Machine, and polishing to mirror shine with Progress Buffing Machine.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentPay: $22-$24 per hourExpected hours: 40 per weekEssential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Works Safely and be actively engaged in the site safety programs.WeldingOperate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAWOperate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment – Optional.Production Welding TIG & MIG weldingRepair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layer.Work with mainly thin gauges of metal.FabricatingOperate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears, rollers and other metal straightening and bending machines.Develops & fabricates Tooling, Jigs & Fixtures - maintains existing tooling, jigs & fixtures will be bonus.FinishingGrind all welded parts using a hand grinder.Buff pieces using Gilbert C. Storey Buffing Machine that were previously grinded in preparation for polishing.Polish pieces to ‘mirror shine/finish’, using a Progress Buffing MachineRequired Skills and AbilitiesAttention to detail and accuracy essential.Able to read work orders and part numbers (alpha and numeric)Excellent verbal communication skills.Good math skills.Familiarity with sheet steel and plate sizes and gauges.Must interpret technical drawings within the metal manufacturing industry.Preferred Education and ExperienceCompletion of one (1) year of work experience in the trade and some college or industry courses in welding1-2 years welding experience, MIG & TIGPrevious experience with stainless steel an assetExperience welding Aluminum an asset.PerksCasual dressCompany eventsCompany pensionDental careDisability insuranceEmployee assistance programExtended health careLife insuranceOn-site parkingPaid time offVision care
