The purpose of our team is to empower engineers, analysts, and data scientists with tools that enable and streamline data-driven decision making, analysis, and feature development. We are looking for a Data Engineer passionate about diving deep into data infrastructure, creating and enhancing Data pipelines, and thrives in a product focused environment. What you’ll be doing:Coordinate with data scientists, data analysts, software engineers and product managers to design and evolve our existing architecture, improving the reliability and performance of our data infrastructureBuild, maintain and scale our ETL pipelines to help power data science and analytical needsDesign, build, and maintain data infrastructure systems such as but not limited to AWS DMS, HBase, EMR, Redshift, S3, Kafka, Airflow while ensuring scalability, reliability, and securityWrite new tools, services, and platforms in PythonResearch new technologies to solve tomorrow’s data infrastructure needsAdvocate for the adoption of tools in the data engineering teamWhat were looking for:You have 5+ years of data engineering experienceAbility to write high-quality code in Python and PySparkStrong understanding of database fundamentalsDeep understanding of two or more of these technologies: Spark, Airflow, AWS EMR, AWS Glue, Sagemaker and RedshiftExperience with batch processing and streaming systemsExposure and/or strong interest in Kafka or other queuing technologiesA critical thinker and possess creative problem solving skillsQuantitative skills, ability to think analytically, and strong attention to detailsA desire to contribute to the broader development communityBonus Points For:Passionate about security and data governanceExperience with dbt and LookerExperience with kubernetesWhat we offer:Career development; we believe in mentorship and investing in your learning, supporting you to achieve your goalsHealth benefits, including vision and dental!RRSP Contributions (Canada), 401K Contributions (USA)Generous vacation and Parental Leave Top-upCorporate discount for gym memberships for you and your familyWinter break shutdown and a whole lot more!Wattpad is conducting all interviews in a distributed manner using applicable third party software where needed and using visual interface tools such as Google Hangouts and Zoom.About WattpadWho are we?Entrepreneurs and Do-ers.
