The BMO Radicle team within Capital Markets supports BMO's Climate Ambition to be our client's lead partner in the transition to a net-zero world. The BMO Radicle business comprises Sustainability Advisory, Carbon Credit Development, Carbon Markets, and Climate Smart. The Sustainability Advisory and Carbon Credit Development businesses help our clients identify, assess and develop potential decarbonization pathways, while our Carbon Markets platform allows for the monetization of developed carbon credits arising from emissions reduction activities. Our Climate Smart greenhouse gas emissions foot printing tool allows for the comprehensive measurement and reporting of our clients' scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions across their business and supply chain.

Mandate

As a senior advisor on the Sustainability Advisory team, the Vice President works directly with clients and is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of technical projects, identifying market opportunities for our clients, and providing tangible steps to bridge any gaps to cutting edge problems in sustainability reporting and GHG accounting. The Vice President, Sustainability Advisory provides carbon market expertise as a technical resource for projects and is responsible for the quality and on-time delivery of projects, with the support of the team's depth of technical expertise.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support technical business development including interpreting client needs into actionable scopes of work, work breakdown schedules and associated budgets as needed.
  • Conduct life cycle assessment modeling and analysis for emerging technologies, project types, and low carbon fuels.
  • Provide senior technical reviews for other projects and feedback to technical team members.
  • Assess, evaluate, and advise clients on carbon market opportunities and/or their emission mitigating activities.
  • Conduct carbon offset quantification protocol evaluations and summaries for clients.
  • Develop knowledge capital creation and disseminate of the knowledge acquired through our engagements to both the general public and other teams within the company through thematics, lunch & learns, speaking engagements, etc.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for first-of-its-kind projects, leveraging innovative approaches for environmental impact accounting.

Knowledge, Skills & Requirements

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with LCA modelling and greenhouse gas accounting or a similar field.
  • Experience in carbon markets, policies, and regulations across a variety of jurisdictions.
  • Service-oriented, enjoys presenting complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Project management experience.
  • Open minded, creative problem solver, analytical, technically proficient in greenhouse gas quantification and management, excellent time management.
  • Deep knowledge of life cycle greenhouse gas assessment, defining boundaries, appropriate application of emission factors, and application of these concepts to novel technologies and practices in the energy sector.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a variety of matters simultaneously.
  • The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative team environment, can meet immediate needs while planning for the future and strives for continuous improvement.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
