We are seeking a Vice President, Insurance Operations for our Canadian operation located in our Toronto office.

This role will optimize operations and technology across internal and external processes, serving as the initiative owner for new branch operational readiness plans and identify improvement opportunities specific to the business unit. Partners with centralized solutions architects to incorporate regional initiatives and requirements into Business Unit-specific workflows and systems.

Strategic Planning:

  • Partner with business unit lead to understand strategic priorities and identify operational support needs to execute on those priorities
  • Champion vision and strategic initiatives and lead business-unit adoption
  • Coordinate and manage cross-functional operational readiness plan including all aspects of the geography
  • Identify initiatives required to improve the end-to-end process lifecycle
  • Partner with others to define short- and long-term business operations roadmap
  • Incorporate shared operations capabilities into business workflows
  • Advise on regional initiative prioritization by providing a business perspective

Execution:

  • Serve as primary liaison between business unit and operations to drive value creation from Process and IT changes and investments
  • Effectively convey vision, define user stories and approve business requirements
  • Define and coordinate User Acceptance Testing and sign off on releases
  • Engage in cross-functional solution design and problem-solving to optimize workflows
  • Own and drive improvement in any business end-to-end workflow and controls
  • Lead change management through a cohesive and thorough communication and training strategy
  • Monitor UW Operations service by tracking performance metrics / SLAs and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory processing and reporting requirements

Talent Management:

  • Develop and oversee group of underwriting support as needed, such as Underwriting Technicians or local Operations Analysts

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies throughout the policy administration process
  • Mitigate risks associated with process changes by implementing appropriate controls and oversight mechanisms

Desired Qualifications:

  • 15 years of Canadian P&C Insurance Operations experience
  • Experience with scaling operations
  • Demonstrated experience with managing large scale projects within an Insurance organization
  • Prior experience with Guidewire a plus
  • Collaborative nature as demonstrated by management experience across multiple departments and disciplines
  • Track record of building and developing strong teams through excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and data driven mindset
