Job Description

Reporting to the CFO and serving as an integral member of the management team, the VP of Finance is responsible for planning, directing and controlling financial and administrative functions for the development of financial management strategy and contributing to the development of the organization’s strategic goals. ResponsibilitiesOversee financial planning, corporate budgeting, forecasting and financial modeling and cash flow.Oversee the preparation, analysis and presentation of monthly, quarterly and annual operating results.Work capital management to align with business and in collaboration with the TYCROP group of brandsAct as an advisor to the CFO to help the executive chart a path towards greater profitability while ensuring compliance.Continually improve, update and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization. Develop and implement financial policies, systems and procedures.Evaluate financial reporting systems, group structure, accounting procedures and investment activities and make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets and other financial control functions to senior managers and executives.Oversee and coordinate the annual audit, ensuring it runs smoothly and annual audited financial statements are produced in a timely fashion.Oversee and facilitate banking, insurance, and regulatory authority relationships to ensure alignment with the company’s needs & objectives.Ensure appropriate financing is in place. Lead negotiations with lenders.Oversee, direct and organize the work of finance, IT Services teams and its 3rd party providers.Participate in and support organizational restructures and growth.Recommend benchmarks and metrics for measuring the financial and operating performance of the company and managing key risks.Identify and analyze ‘cutting edge’ ideas/systems to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and value creation within the finance and IT departments.  Foster a culture of innovation, learning and continuous improvements to achieve long – term strategic objectives.  QualificationsProfessional accounting designation.Minimum 5 years experience in a lead financial role in a manufacturing industry environment.Extensive experience and knowledge of corporate accounting and financial managementFinancial analysis and some strategic planning experienceKnowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniquesAdvanced knowledge of MS Excel including queries and pivot tablesExperience with SYSPRO an assetSpecific SkillsDemonstrated knowledge of financial statement reporting, cost accounting, ASPE and tax compliance. Knowledge of Provincial, State and Federal financial regulations.Tact and diplomacy and practical knowledge of industry/company policies, practices and procedures.Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to deal with constantly changing requirements and priorities.Problem solving, decision making, critical thinking skills.Able to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysisProficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.Able to adapt to and learn new software.Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.Proven experience in motivating, mentoring and developing employees.At TYCROP, we value our people – and it shows.
