They are currently looking for a VP of Finance to join their team!Why Work HereCollaborative and supportive culture with abundant opportunities for continuous learning and professional growthReports to a highly qualified SVP who is a strong mentor and leaderLead a high-caliber team of CPAsComprehensive salary and benefits package About the OpportunityFinancial Reporting: Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (ASPE, IFRS, etc.)Controls and Compliance: Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies.Audit and Tax: Will be the senior leader to oversee the annual financial audit, annual tax compliance and all other compliance financial reporting manners.Understand, explain, and implement simple to complex accounting transactions and correctly reflect into financial statements.Work with internal and external advisors to minimize impacts of tax, including but not limited to Income Tax, HST, LTT, etc.Financial Statements and Notes Disclosures: Final review of all financial statements on a quarterly and annual basis and will oversee the preparation of financial statements and accompanying notes disclosures, providing insights into disclosures and accounting for complex transactions with minimal supervision.Complex Transactions: Manage and oversee complex financial transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring activities, ensuring proper accounting treatment and financial impact analysis.Work collaboratively with other Senior Finance leaders cross divisionally and be a key lead in creating a Finance Centre of Excellence across Fengate with shared knowledge transfer of best practices.Coaching and Mentoring: Provide leadership and guidance to finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and high performance.Third-Party Joint Venture Partnerships: Serve as a liaison for controllership duties for third-party joint venture partners, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and alignment on financial matters.Investor Relations: Interface with investors and other stakeholders to communicate financial performance, strategies, and key initiatives, fostering transparency and trust.Investor Reporting: Prepare and present investor returns, performance, operational updates into professionally curated decks for external and internal stakeholders.Real Estate Asset Management: Apply comprehensive understanding of real estate asset management principles to optimize financial reporting performance and mitigate risks.Project Accounting: Manage project accounting processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of project financials, budgeting, and forecasting for real estate development initiatives.Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders such as audit firms, tax firms, legal firms, joint venture partners, vendors, lenders, and key stakeholders.Implement an incredibly high sense of urgency and bias for action, with the ability to triage issues and track progress against a critical path to meet agreed upon deadlines.Partner closely and regularly with FP&A finance team to assist with monthly, quarterly and annual forecasting and scenario analyses including balance sheet, income statement and cash flow forecasting.About YouCPA, CAProven track record of 10-12+ years in progressively responsible finance roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.Extensive experience in financial reporting, controls, and compliance, with a deep understanding of financial statements, disclosures, complex transactions, cash flow statement, equity and shareholder capital statements, etc.Understanding of the real estate landscape, including understanding of acquisition/investment, development, asset management, and financing is a plus.Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is a must, including the ability to prepare high quality decks.Ability to decipher complex language in legal agreements such as joint ventures, partitions, property management, GP, and LP agreements, loan documents, and other binding contracts.Salary Range$185,000 - $195,000/yearJOB ID: 412674
