Overview
The Verification engineer is responsible for conducting testing on early prototype components to support achievement of TRL4, completing DVP&R activities during development of fuel system components and the application of existing components for new OEM customer programs, as well as supporting resolution of FRACAS issues for current customers.
Position Responsibilities
Preparation of detailed verification test plans
Execution of verification plans
Creation of verification test reports
Maintaining DVP&R status in Requirements Management system
Verification of both systems and components
Participation in structured investigations of root cause of failure
Participation in Design Reviews and DFMEAs
Specification of test rigs and fixtures
Developing expertise in the capabilities of test rigs
Creating detailed test instructions for technicians
Liaison with purchasing and outside vendors
Health and Safety Responsibilities
Promote Westport's H&S culture following all Environmental, and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents
Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative
Position Requirements
Key Requirements
A Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
3+ years experience in development of complex systems involving mechanical and electrical components
Good knowledge of thermodynamics, valves, seals, metals and materials
Knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis
Ability to specify and utilize measurement instrumentation and data acquisition
Experienced in creating and implementing verification or test plans. Can provide schedule and budget estimates and deliver to them
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Good verbal and written communication skills in English
Organized and uses time effectively
Capable of creative problem solving with a practical approach
Self-motivated and capable of working independently when required
Preferred Experience
Experience in verification and validation of new products
Experience working with automotive fuel systems
Familiarity with standard automotive development practices such as Technical Profiles, DVP&R and DFMEA
Proficiency in MATLAB
Salary Range
This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $75,000 to $110,000. Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
