Description

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Unit Operations Engineer on a permanent basis at our Co-op Refinery Complex in Regina, SK.

We operate a world-class refinery that utilizes cutting-edge technology to produce 130,000 barrels of refined petroleum products per day and an annual production capacity of 6.8 billion liters. As one of Canada’s largest refineries we employee over 1,000 people. The Unit Operations Engineer will have the opportunity to monitor, advise and direct the operation of the refinery units.

What you’ll do:

  • Recommend, authorize, and direct the course of action to be taken during periods of upset, start-up and shutdown, emergency operations, and during any experimental operations that may be carried out.
  • Consult regularly on unit specific issues with process licensors and suppliers such as chemical and resin vendors to obtain detailed analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize utility systems by issuing operating orders to Process Operators to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine thermodynamic, heat transfer, and hydraulic calculations to monitor and troubleshoot asset performance such as heat exchangers, pumps, and piping systems.
  • Co-ordinate with Engineering, Maintenance and Inspection on issues and repairs and assist with troubleshooting long term mechanical issues.
  • Provide input to design, develop, and deliver projects, programs, systems, process technologies, equipment, and products to meet customer needs.
  • Assist in completing process engineering calculations and process simulations to provide process specifications and other technical input as required for work orders and capital projects.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and perform unit safety and safety related audits.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Engineering & Engineering Technology and:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
  • Have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Eligibility for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) as an Engineer in Training (EIT), registration with APEGS as an EIT, or registration with APEGS as a P. Eng.
  • You are skilled in decision-making, problem-solving, customer service, and communication.
  • You’re honest and trustworthy, are results oriented and strive to be the best in what you do.
