Job Description

The Turnover Maintenance Technician is responsible for renovating vacant housing units and buildings on behalf of York Property Management. Main duties include investigating housing units and subsequently planning, coordinating, and completing renovations as required. The ideal candidate has strong communication and time management skills.
The Turnover Maintenance Technician in collaboration with Maintenance Technicians, Resident Managers and Cleaning Associates and reports to the Turnover Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities
Complete renovations for housing units to ensure the buildings and units are safe and in adequate condition for incoming residents:

  • Follow York Property Management’s turnover procedure and timelines
  • Work with the turnover team to complete renovations on kitchens, bathrooms
  • Repair drywall, ceilings, and flooring as required
  • Lay new flooring as required
  • Complete minor repairs to electrical systems as required
  • Complete minor repairs to plumbing systems as required
  • Develop plan of action to resolve any issues and contact contractors as required
  • Assist in cleaning/maintaining Grounds and common areas as required

Perform administrative duties
  • Keep a daily log of tasks completed and track comments and progress in Propertyware
  • Coordinate with turnover team supervisor if an extra person is needed to complete the repairs
  • Enter time tracking into property management software for payroll purposes
  • Maintain equipment and tools

Carry and respond to emergency maintenance phone line on rotation
Perform other related duties as required

  • Experience with repairs in plumbing, electrical, ventilation and water systems
  • Proven building maintenance experience

  • Experience in residential property management is an asset
  • Conscientious with great attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use and/or learn how to use new technology for time tracking and work order purposes
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
