The successful candidate will work on both urban and rural projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity will work collaboratively with our inter-disciplinary team of Engineers, Planners, Landscape Architects and Environmental Scientists to provide innovative and integrated consulting services to our public and private sector clients. We are looking to add passionate and talented staff to our fast-paced team.

This role will be based within the Alternative Project Delivery team which functions companywide with a well-diversified and experienced team with 25 years in Western Canada. The team specializes in complex project design and delivery, while leveraging the 1400+ McElhanney staff for expert local knowledge and support. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects across western Canada. You'll work closely with stakeholders to align incentives, mitigate risks, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. This role offers the ability to be eligible for shareholding privileges in an employee-owned company. We are also looking to grow our transportation expertise within the City of Calgary.

The salary range for this role is $88,000 - $132,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Prepare transportation engineering designs and drawings that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards
• Transform preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs using Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed
• Coordinate the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development, engineering construction estimates and tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved
• Provide engineering services during construction
• Provide training and mentorship to design engineers and technical staff
• Coordinating design with other disciplines including structures, utilities, drainage, environmental and landscaping, etc

What You’ll Bring:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited university or college
• 5+ years of experience at the intermediate level
• Registration in good standing as a technologist or engineer
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential; knowledge and experience with InRoads, MicroStation, and/or other CAD software is also an asset
• Understanding of Alberta Transportation and the municipal (City of Calgary’s) design guidelines and drafting standards, technical specifications, and construction procurement documents
• Attention to detail and excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
