The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Technical Writer to join our Documentation and Support Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating comprehensive user manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for our key business applications. As you grow into the role and gain expertise in our applications, you will also assist with support requests and play a vital role in the training of new employees or in sessions related to process changes and application updates.

Responsibilities

- Documentation Creation and Maintenance: Develop clear and concise user manuals and SOPs that meet the needs of end-users. Ensure all documentation is kept current with changes to business applications.
- Support and Troubleshooting: As expertise with the applications develops, assist in resolving support tickets related to business applications. Provide technical assistance and resolution as needed.
- Training Development and Delivery: Collaborate with the training team to design and deliver training modules for new hires and existing employees. This includes updating training materials to reflect any changes in applications or processes.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, project managers, and quality assurance teams to ensure documentation accurately reflects the functionality and features of our applications.
- Quality Assurance: Review and revise documentation to maintain high quality standards, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and reliability of the information provided.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience in technical writing, preferably in IT or a related technical field.
- Strong technical proficiency with business software applications and the ability to quickly learn new tools and software.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality documentation.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to resolve support issues and enhance user understanding.
- Team collaboration skills with a proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, including software developers and non-technical users.
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

Additional Information

- This position reports to the ERP Analyst
- This is a full-time position scheduled from Monday to Friday, may be needed outside regular business hours when required
- This position is located at our head office in Guelph, Ontario, can be a hybrid working arrangement
