Building Materials - Industrial Distribution - Wholesale Distribution

Our client is a well-established Canadian distributor offering a wide range of building isolation products and solutions to Architects, Engineers, Designers, OEMs, Contractors, and Property/Factory Managers. Due to their growth and expansion, they are in need of a Technical Sales Representative with previous experience in the construction industry, ideally with a focus on mechanical contracting/systems, HVAC, or plumbing. Previous sales/estimating experience an asset.

Our client will also consider candidates with field experience in construction or related sectors who would like to expand their career into an office role. A positive attitude and the ability to provide excellent customer service are key to be successful in this role.

The new hire will look after existing and prospective accounts while coordinating projects in Western Canada. The position will be based in Burnaby, BC (hybrid will be offered) and requires little travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers by phone or email with the intention of cultivating strong customer relationships.
  • Develop new customer potential by examining market opportunities and contacting potential customers.
  • Offer professional, prompt, effective and efficient solutions to customer inquiries.
  • Provide quotations, technical support, literature, and other support/materials for customers, including submittals and coordination for projects.
  • Responsible for completing the order process which includes offering pricing terms according to established margins and generating sales orders.
  • Enter quotations and orders into the system with accuracy in a timely manner.
  • Provide customers with accurate pricing, inventory, and specific delivery information.
  • Respond to customers’ requests and inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Participate in trade shows, networking events, training and associated product meetings where appropriate.
  • Deliver presentations to architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Conduct site reviews and attends project meetings, when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous sales related experience is preferred, ideally in the plumbing & HVAC industry.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft office required, CAD experience would be an asset.
  • High level of commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Highly organized in prioritizing work and multi-tasking.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaborate with team members.
  • Highly reliable with excellent problem-solving skills.
