Job Description

We’re looking for a Technical Artist with a passion for championing optimal performance and efficiency in visual assets to join the team creating Above.Land, a AAA open world MMO ARPG.As a Technical Artist you’ll play a key role in the Art and Cinematics team acting as a bridge between the Art and Engineering teams, facilitating seamless asset integration in Unreal Engine and supporting with technical guidance. You’ll also be assisting Animators with implementing rigged characters in engine, creating tools to help streamline the Artists’ workflow and more.You’ll be joining a hugely talented and motivated team who enjoy a great company culture, as they utilise their talents, technical expertise and experience on a project that they believe will truly change the industry.Set in a magical world above the clouds, in Above.Land, humans and mythological creatures attempt to find a way to co-exist. Players must master techniques, upgrade their gear and craft their battle plans in order to save their world.Your responsibilities…Collaborate with other core team members to develop the overall vision and determine technical feasibilityIdentify and analyse risks for engine, data, and featuresAssess existing tools and occasionally design custom ones to support art pipelines and workflows to sustain the project visionSolve any art-related bugs or hitches that may arise during game productionSet up and maintain frameworks to allow creative freedom while hitting quality and performance requirements set up by the Engineering teamWork with Art Director, Technical Art Lead and Director of Production to share information and updates, enforce standards, set benchmarks, give feedback, etcResolve specific, complex, escalated issues and approve technical specificationsRepresent the Art team in technical discussions and requirements meetingsWrite documentation, tutorials/training videos and provide training to the Art, Design and Engineering departmentsThe skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…4 or more years’ experience as a Technical Artist (not inclusive of studies), ideally in the games industryShipped one or more console or PC titlesPractical knowledge with Unreal Engine 4 and/or 5, UnrealGameSync (UGS) and Visual Scripting (Blueprints)Advanced knowledge of Blender, 3DSMax, Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush and Substance DesignerStrong knowledge of modern 3D graphics techniquesExperience writing and modifying shadersExperience with version control software such as Perforce or GitSolid understanding of creative and game development processesAdept at technical problem solvingOpen-minded team player attitudeStrong work ethic and self-motivatedPassionate about playing and making video gamesPerks and benefits include…Competitive SalaryHealth and dental benefitsRemote working#J-18808-Ljbffr
