An exciting opportunity has arisen within our residential care home service. We are looking for an engaging and positive Team Leader to join our Peterborough service where we support children and young people aged between 8 to 18 years.

Service users may have a complex needs challenging behaviour, learning disabilities and other emotional or social needs. This is a fast-paced role, you must be flexible in the hours due to the support required. You will work on a rota basis throughout the week, weekends, and bank holidays, with sleep ins as well.

What does a Team Leader do?

  • Support the Manager in all aspects of the home’s operation, whilst maintaining positive childcare practice in keeping with the aims and objectives of the home.
  • Provide a safe, warm and supportive environment to our residents whilst being involved in the planning and organisation of the home.
  • Maintain a regular recording system in connection with each young person, be involved in the implementation of care plans, and assist in the publication of reports when required.
  • Attend review and planning meetings when required.
  • Assist with the process of development, implementation, and review of service policy.
  • Ensure that when on shift, care staff conduct themselves within the guidelines of the home in line with policy documents and care plans.
  • Delegate tasks to residential care staff, co-ordinate the daily routines of the home, and participate in household duties such as cooking, cleaning, gardening, whilst promoting and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Delegate tasks to residential care staff and participate in the general activities of the home such as cycling, swimming, walking, playing games, and using any other personal skills you may have to maximise opportunities for each resident.
  • Attend regular supervision sessions, staff meetings, and training sessions as required.
  • Accept responsibility for such monies as may be required in the carrying out of your duties.
  • Administer medication to children as required, and complete all related paperwork and records.
  • Undertake sleeping in duties as required.
  • Comply with and adherence to the policies, procedures, and practices of the home, and respond to emergencies which may arise within the service.
  • Provide a positive role model for colleagues and the young people.
  • Deal with telephone enquiries and undertake administrative duties as required, e.g. log books, daily information sheets, accident book, incident forms etc.
  • Maintain case file records including details of assessment plans, decisions, visits, and the implementation and evaluation of actions with regards to the care plan.

Experience:

  • Supervisory: 1 year (preferred).
