This role is not just about meeting day-to-day recruitment needs; it's about shaping the future of our workforce. Reporting to the Director of Total Rewards & Employee Experience, the successful candidate will elevate our Talent Acquisition function by integrating strategic planning, diversity and inclusion, proactive sourcing, and employer branding into our recruitment processes. Key Responsibilities: Proactively collaborates with business leaders and P&C team members to build an inclusive, diverse, and equitable multi-year talent acquisition strategy. Supports hiring managers at the strategic and tactical level to fulfil current and upcoming recruitment needs. Assesses and recommends continuous improvements to current processes. Implements a proactive, multi-channel talent sourcing process. Proactively build pipeline of strong, diverse candidates (both active and passive) across various functions using a range of inbound and outbound recruitment methods using tools such as LinkedIn, Indeed to name a few. Partner with diverse organizations, communities and stakeholders to introduce ESA and develop a strategic alignment to enhance talent programs. Partner with Diversity & Inclusion team to ensure the right processes and practices are in place to attract and onboard qualified diverse talent. Leverage resources to ensure we have an effective Talent Acquisition strategy that incorporates the IDEA strategy and utilizes the right external partners to execute on strategy. Maps the candidate experience journey and champions a superior experience. Attend job/career fairs at industry and university events, identifying prospective candidates for hire. Screen and interview prospective candidates, assessing their abilities and experience against the responsibilities and qualifications of the role, making recommendations to hire as applicable. Negotiate employment terms and conditions with candidates. Builds productive cross functional business partnerships and acts as a trusted advisor on talent. Negotiates and manages all third-party relationships. Embraces and promotes ESA’s inclusive culture. Collaborates with the People and Culture and Communications team to continually evolve the brand and expand their brand presence. Lead and evolve the candidate experience throughout the employee talent life cycle [i.e. interview, offer letter, onboarding, etc]. Liaises with Labour Relations team to provide advice and service on job evaluation, and pay equity. Review organizational structure, providing consultation and guidance to people leaders to ensure alignment with organizational needs. Assists with People and Culture projects when needed. Qualifications: Experienced recruitment professional that has developed recruitment strategies and supported business leaders in achieving ambitious corporate objectives. Knowledgeable and experienced recruiting professional with a focus on direct sourcing and delivery of quality candidates is an asset and is experienced in leading corporate recruitment and process improvement efforts. Possesses extensive knowledge of talent acquisition strategies with an in-depth understanding of future trends and developments that may impact a business. Brings an expert understanding of the latest recruitment tools and methods. Effectively able to lead strategic workforce planning and recruitment processes to advance the organization’s strategic direction and mandate. Strong business acumen. Superior orientation to client service. Builds trusted relationships with the business and takes a consultative approach with leaders to understand their business and their current and future talent requirements. Able to provide clear, concise and astute advice on talent. Communicate with others both verbally and in writing. Eager to build genuine relationships with the executive and senior management team, hiring managers and potential talent. Values and respects the concerns and feelings of others; communicates with empathy, has respect for the individual and is dedicated to diversity within the organization. Flexible and adaptable with the ability to switch gears quickly. Acts professionally under pressure. Calm, confident and collaborative. High level of Social media knowledge. High level of proficiency in MS Office applications - Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Experience working in an union environment would be an asset; Minimum 5-10 years of experience working in recruitment in a highly unionized environment.
