About the position:Currently, we are looking for a dedicated Systems Designer for our Security & Healthcare Technology team, based in Burnaby.The Systems Designer is responsible for designing, researching, solution architecting, and testing technologies related to Houles security projects and service work. Technologies may include access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, nurse call, RTLS, and systems integrations.Systems Designer Duties and Responsibilities:Read and understand specifications and conduct system design for commercial and institutional projects Collaborate with team in the estimate, RFI process and design phase of projectsCreate and update drawing packages, configuration and tracking spreadsheets and other design documents Liaise with manufacturer reps and suppliers, source and assemble manufacturers manuals, instructions data sheets and reference for designModel and simulate various solutions in test environmentsIdentify technology solutions for assigned projectsLearn design tools quickly and work within a complex, fast paced design development environmentCollaborate with multiple stakeholders (internal & external) to help meet the needs of the projectsSystems Designer Experience and Skills:Minimum 5 years related experience required (knowledge of technical drawings, system design, estimating, configuration, commissioning, and projects design documentation). Formal training and experience designing enterprise level security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, nurse call, RTLS technologies) requiredExperience with computer softwares - Microsoft, AutoCAD, Visio or equivalentIn-depth understanding of security system protocols, networking, and databasesComputer networking knowledge (Cisco certification an asset)Technical troubleshooting capabilityVery strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to converse technically and professionally to technical and non-technical project stakeholdersStrong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracyAble to work under pressure and ever-changing work environment Culture is important at Houle.
