Job Description

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our IT team. As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing our organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring its stability, security, and optimal performance. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, implement upgrades, and enhance system efficiency.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management:

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, network devices, and storage systems.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Implement security measures to protect data and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Perform regular backups and disaster recovery planning.

User Support:

  • Provide technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software-related problems.
  • Set up user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Assist with software installations and updates.

Network Administration:

  • Manage LAN/WAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
  • Monitor network traffic and ensure optimal performance.

System Upgrades and Patch Management:

  • Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and security updates.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Create user guides and knowledge base articles.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other IT teams, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives.

Vendor Management:

  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware and software procurement.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate contracts.

Compliance and Security:

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, CMMC) and internal policies.
  • Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator in a multi-site organization.
  • Highly responsive with excellent internal customer service skills.
  • Located commuting distance to one of our Ontario Branches, which include Markham, Cambridge, and more.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux server administration.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (M365, Azure).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or RHCSA are a plus.
  • Travel 30% - 40%.
