Together with clients, partners, supporters, and allies, the organization is working to create communities in which people with disabilities can not only live but thrive in all they aspire to do.Position: Brain Injury Support WorkerSalary: From $20.61 an hourJob Type: Full TimeLocation: Victoria, British Columbia, CanadaAbout the RoleMarch of Dimes Canada are currently looking to fill a full-time (30 hours/week) Support Worker position in Brain Injury in Victoria BC.This role’s intention is to support the maintenance of rehabilitation goals achieved by clients in the day program. In addition, provide support services of housekeeping and preparing meals and snacks to individuals at the day program.Hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 2:30pm, 30 hours per week. Starting wage is $20.61 per hour.Main DutiesProvides support to maintain client rehabilitation goals (set by Rehabilitation Worker) and offers assistance with housekeeping and snacks and mealsActivities in which the Support Worker may be involved with require attention to the maintenance of health and safety requirements, especially regarding lifts/ transfers/ bending/ carrying and stretching, maintenance of “universal precautions” and careful use of household cleaning materials.Service is provided in a courteous, professional, and friendly manner which respects the client’s dignity and right to privacy.Reporting responsibilities including incident, behavioural & verbal reportsParticipates in any required trainingFollows policies and procedures as requiredProvides one to one support and group support within the day program and community to adults with a Brian InjuryEngages clients in activities and rehabilitation planningCommunicates with clients, family, and team membersQualificationsPost-Secondary preferred in Human and Social Services but minimum of Grade 12Proven consistency in work performance, including reliability and flexibilityExcellent interpersonal communication and organizational skillsSound behavioural management skills, cognitive problem-solving skills.Proven teamwork abilitiesWorking knowledge of ABI and rehabilitationAbility to effectively provide support with behavioural situationsAbility to speak, read, and write EnglishNOTE: In accordance with accessibility and human rights legislation across Canada, MODC will provide accommodations to job applicants with disabilities and other protected needs.Required DocumentsCV/ResumeApplication ProcessInterested and qualified individuals should kindly CLICK HERE to learn more about the role and to apply
