Position Title: Supply Chain Planner (Perishables)

Department: Supply Chain

Position Reports to: Supply Chain Supervisor

Position Summary: The Supply Chain Planner (Perishables) is responsible for the strategic and tactical forecasting, planning and replenishment of inventory for their respective portfolio of products; ensuring perpetual supply through the Flanagan Foodservice DC Network. This role will also generate and maintain various reporting & communication functions to support our customer-facing sales teams. The successful candidate can demonstrate analytical and decision-making ability, while balancing supply & demand to meet fill rate and inventory turns performance in a complex, dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forecasting & replenishment of produce and perishable product lines and other categories as assigned.
  • Achieve inventory level, inventory turns, and fill rate objectives.
  • Issuance of Purchase Orders and liaising with vendors and carriers to maintain continuous supply.
  • Collaborating with territory managers to understand market conditions, sales & demand trends and adjust stocking position accordingly within our ERP and/or offline tools.
  • Seasonal forecasting and promo management & planning.
  • Managing inventory to meet shelf-life and DC/Operational capacity requirements.
  • Manage obsolete & expired inventory and write-offs pertaining to the portfolio.
  • Communicate and respond to sales team requests on a daily basis or as needed.
  • Provide supply chain planning support and coverage for team as required.
  • Work daily with category managers on executing the product strategy to drive profitable case volume.
  • Communicate effectively with category management and suppliers on known supplier issues and risk to supply.
  • Provide root-cause analysis on stock-out and excess supply situations.
  • Critically analyze KPI data to drive strategic decision-making.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience Supply Chain Planning/Buying experience with a major retailer, global distributor or food manufacturer.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience planning inventory in the Produce space.
  • Strong working knowledge of operations and supply chain planning practices.
  • Post-secondary education in business, supply chain or a related field.
  • Experience with ERP systems and forecasting & replenishment software such as JDA.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with advanced level in Excel.
  • Ability to work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team and cross-functional departments.
  • Highly organized, with proven time management skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve problems.
  • Experience working with large product portfolios.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Class G Driver’s license and the use of a personal vehicle for work-related travel.
