Position Title: Supervisor, Savings and Retirement Operations Reports To: Manager, Savings and Retirement Operations Department: S&R Operations Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

As a Subject Matter Expert, you will also provide recommendations, implement solutions, and offer other expertise on process improvements and system changes/enhancements. What you will be doing:

  • Ensuring the daily operations (new business, in-force and claims) in the Savings & Retirement administration team meets quality, service standards and production targets
  • Supervising, developing, training, mentoring, and supporting staff while providing a positive and engaging team environment
  • Providing in-depth technical support & system processing expertise to the S&R Division through actively consulting with internal business partners, external IT vendors (LTIMindtree), direct reports and S&R leadership
  • Ensuring that the business area remains fully functional to meet their service objectives through in-depth analysis, problem identification, and through to providing recommendations and implementing solutions
  • Communicating operational risks, costs, benefits, and changes related to financial processing, compliance, tax reporting and system changes
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert on S&R operations processes, procedures, balancing of accounts, tax forms and systems which include various financial software systems
  • Resolving issues, oversee production and assisting staff on complex system processing, error corrections and escalated issues with daily fund balancing

What you will bring:

  • Post-secondary education degree in a related field: Business, Accounting, Math or Computer Science preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 7 years Savings & Retirement industry experience of, including a solid understanding of Savings & Retirement Operations products, administrative processes, service standards and/or compliance and legislation
  • Minimum 2 years experience in analyzing and evaluating workforce metrics to enhance and maximize capacity planning and production
  • Recent, relevant supervisory experience in a service and metrics-based environment;
  • A positive attitude while building an engaging team environment and while working hard to drive results
  • Experience in analyzing and evaluating workforce metrics to enhance and maximize capacity planning and production
  • Strong investigative and critical thinking skills to identify where errors occurred, assessing impact and rectifying with a sense of urgency
  • An understanding of change management practices and principles
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple deadlines, tasks, and projects efficiently
  • Aptitude for financial software systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Sound knowledge of Windows/MS Office
