Superintendent of Schools

School District No. 6 (Rocky Mountain)

Invermere, BC

School District No. 6 (Rocky Mountain) is located on the traditional unceded territories of the Ktunaxa and Secwépemc Nations. We honour the cultures, languages, and First Nations people of these territories.

Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 (“RMSD6” or “the District”) serves all communities from Golden to Kimberley in southeastern British Columbia. The District is comprised of 18 schools including three alternate schools and one online school in three zones: Golden, including the community of Nicholson; Windermere, including Edgewater, Invermere, and Canal Flats; and Kimberley, including Marysville.

The District serves approximately 3,500 students, employs approximately 550 staff, and has an operating budget of approximately $62 million dollars. Nine Trustees make up the Board of Education, three from each zone. The District’s mission, vision and values guide all decisions made by the Board.

The District now seeks a new Superintendent of Schools to bring an innovative voice to the school district and to focus on efforts that support its position of central importance to students, families and the communities that the District serves. As the Chief Executive Officer reporting directly to the elected Board of Education, the Superintendent will provide inspirational and strategic leadership to students, staff, parents/guardians, and the community as the Board continues to follow a vision and strategy based on the most current educational research and a commitment to continuous growth and development. The Superintendent will have the opportunity to work with a seasoned Board of Trustees to build capacity and support leadership across all levels of the District.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished, passionate educator who brings senior leadership experience at the district level and a track record of success at all levels of the K-12 public education system. Highly relational, self-aware, humble, collaborative and inclusive, the successful candidate is a champion of the public school system and committed to creating and sustaining places of care, providing stewardship for the future of all students. The Superintendent will also be characterized as politically astute, financially judicious, and a servant leader.

For a skilled, open and collaborative leader, this is an exceptional opportunity to add value in a growing district that encompasses ten beautiful mountain communities.

The salary range for this role is from $202,199 to $219,781.
