Purpose of the role

TerraFixing has demonstrated a small-scale novel gas separation & purification process and system for direct air capture of carbon dioxide. We are now scaling up the technology and preparing for a demonstration project. As a structured adsorbent bed engineer, you will be supporting product and technology development projects related to our proprietary structured sorbent. We see three different adsorbent bed engineer positions:

  • Structured bed modeling and simulations engineer,
  • Structured bed fabrication engineering, and
  • Structured bed testing engineer.

Your overarching Responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop processes to assemble adsorbents into structured packings.
  • Develop processes to build monolith/structured beds from structured packings.
  • Participate in defining tests for measuring performance and durability of adsorbent beds.
  • Participate in analysis of test results from prototype adsorbent beds to pilot plants.
  • Simulate performance of adsorbent beds of different geometries to select adsorbent loading, flow cross sectional area, pressure drop, heat transfer that optimizes the desired separation process.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of ceramic/zeolitic chemistries and techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of the properties of adsorbents powders or very similar powders.
  • Experience with coating and/or extrusion are preferred.
  • Data analysis and presentation for decision making.
  • Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE)
  • Experience with intellectual property considerations is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong sense of accountability and a desire to continually improve oneself.
