We have an opening for an experienced Structural Engineer with project management, structural analysis and/or design experience, specifically in the bridge engineering field, to join our Bridges and Culverts team of dedicated professionals in our Orangeville office.

Role Specifics

As a key member of our dynamic team, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your expertise in structural analysis, design, and project management within the captivating realm of bridge engineering. Reporting directly to the Senior Bridge Engineer/Sub-Sector Leader, you'll spearhead a range of engaging responsibilities, including structural analysis and design, project management, and mentoring junior colleagues. Your skills will shine as you contribute to construction cost estimation, document preparation, contract administration, and overall project oversight for bridge and transportation-related projects.

The position will involve (but is not limited to) carrying out the following tasks, and includes:

  • Project management and structural analysis for infrastructure projects in Orangeville and the vicinity.
  • Coordinating structural design activities, producing preliminary and detailed design drawings, and crafting comprehensive reports.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, sub-consultants, and contractors, ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Providing technical guidance to junior team members and collaborating with multi-office design teams to meet client needs.
  • Offering invaluable technical support and guidance during construction phases.
  • Crafting compelling project proposals and insightful reports.
  • Nurturing existing client relationships while identifying exciting new business opportunities.
  • Collaborating seamlessly with project managers and company management to continuously elevate design standards.
  • Acting as a mentor to junior staff and embracing other assigned duties.

Professional Knowledge & Qualifications

The following qualifications, experience and skills are required:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (Ontario / PEO) with 10 years minimum of licensure, in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO)
  • Graduation from a University program in Civil Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years of structural analysis and design experience, specifically in the structural/bridge engineering field

Demonstrated project management expertise, with a keen understanding of budget and time constraints.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word

  • Excellent knowledge of drawing set-up and production
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Transportation standards, methodology and manuals
  • Strong interpersonal oral and written communication skills
  • Strong client management and facilitation skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Experience with reviewing structural damage and report preparation for litigation is an asset.
