Your main responsibilities :

The structural engineer will be actively involved in the design and dimensioning of complex steel structure assemblies and engineering structures, as well as in the design of temporary structures to stabilize frameworks under construction, following careful analysis and development of an assembly sequence. You'll be involved right from the start of a manufacturing project, assisting in the design of assemblies, coordinating models, drawing up plans, and providing manufacturing and site assistance during erection of the structure. Versatile by nature, the structural engineer must be able to organize his or her work well in order to manage the many mandates entrusted to him or her.

  • Carry out structural design and analysis, as well as connection calculations, in compliance with required codes and standards.
  • Assist and supervise the team of technicians in the preparation of plans, specifications and manufacturing drawings (shop drawings).
  • Verify shop and erection drawings for approval, production start-up or installation
  • Assist steel fabricators with technical support for steel fabrication and fabrication sequencing of high-complexity structural members
  • Assist in the design of structural steel erection sequences, the design of temporary stability elements and the sizing of lifting devices used in structural erection.
  • Write technical reports and letters;
  • Carry out structural inspections or work supervision;
  • Participate in the implementation and improvement of innovative methods and tools, thus contributing to process optimization.
  • Participate in the company's research and development activities;
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or building engineering, structural option
  • Master's degree in structure (asset)
  • 3 years' relevant experience - experience in the consulting engineering field in Quebec considered an asset
  • Knowledge of ETABS, SAP and SAFE software
  • Knowledge of Tekla and/or REVIT modeling software (an asset)
  • Valid ASP card

  • Strong interest in structural calculations (design) and engineering
  • Intellectual curiosity, desire to learn
  • Fluency in French (oral and written)
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) - as many of our customers are located in U.S.A.
  • Excellent management of time and priorities
  • Team spirit, attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and interest in improving automated calculation tools
