The Strategy Manager - IT Business Management focuses on ensuring that the IT Operations organization "does the right things" through business strategy and governance, as well as "doing things right" through organizational and operational model development and performance management.

The role is a Strategy role and not an Operations role . The role reports to the SVP, Technology Operations and Cybersecurity and leads strategic planning initiatives for the IT Operations group. This role will work with IT Operations leadership to set strategic direction in alignment with business objectives and priorities. The role focuses on running IT OPS like a business.

The IOSM should handle several principal duties, all focused on making time, information, and decision processes more effective. In this role, you will be responsible for building the processes, frameworks, enabling capabilities, analytics and metrics that will focus on accelerating our ability to drive business value.

Here's where you'll be focusing:

As a IT Business Operations Manager with Sobeys, you will:

  • Analyzes key internal and external inputs to develop the IT Operations 5-year strategic plan, ensuring alignment with overall enterprise strategy.
  • Defines objectives, frameworks, and metrics for the IT Operations strategic planning process and establishes ownership and timelines for key planning steps.
  • Lead the development and design of multi-year roadmaps to continue to grow IT Operations maturity.
  • Lead the development of internal business cases to help support IT Operations transformation and resiliency projects.
  • Conducts meetings with senior IT Operations leadership and key stakeholders across the organization to validate understanding of business goals and effectively communicate the IT Operations strategy.
  • Manage and lead the internal planning activities on behalf of the IT OPS leadership team, including scorecard objectives, KPI tracking, driving our team engagement agenda, recurring all-team leadership meetings and Town Hall events.
  • Develop high-impact presentations, for both external partner audiences and for internal senior level executives and act as the point of contact for key internal and external platforms and communications.
  • Bring together the IT OPS inputs for annual strategy reviews that are presented to the executive leadership team, the CEO and Board.
  • Monitors value metrics to make informed decisions that maximize returns across IT investments.
  • Drives and contributes to IT Operations workforce strategy, including analyzing trends and business strategy to forecast critical skills and resource gaps.
  • Analyzes IT Operations functional design and contributes to overall organizational design initiatives.
  • Takes responsibility for special projects and other initiatives on behalf of the SVP, Technology Operations and Cybersecurity.
  • Develop governance, rigor and structure to support executive level decision-making on strategic and tactical initiatives.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Fosters and builds a collaborative working relationship with various stakeholders within IT and outside of IT Operations.
  • Expert in strategic planning, communications, and financial management. Including budget planning and cost containment programs.
  • Expert in governance formulation, organizational change management.
  • Fluently bilingual in French and English preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

  • 5 years of experience in management consulting, internal corporate strategy, business operations, corporate advisory, or similar.
  • Experience of strategy development and communication essential.
  • Project management, Business Relationship Management or Enterprise Architecture experience a bonus.
  • More than 2 years of people management experience preferred.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, or a related discipline.
