ABOUT INUVIALUIT REGIONAL CORPORATION (IRC) IRC was created in 1984 to represent the Inuvialuit and their rights and benefits obtained under one of Canada's oldest comprehensive land claim agreements. With assets over $1 billion, not including vast land holdings, IRC is responsible for corporate investment, land management, and a broad range of social, cultural, and economic programs and services benefiting Inuvialuit. Its subsidiaries have interests in grocery, manufacturing, property management, transportation, and significant dealings in the oil and gas industry. Since its inception, IRC has experienced considerable growth and its structure and operations have become increasingly complex. Combining local government and service delivery, community development, investment, and operating business divisions, all managed by a single back office, the organization has an array of complexities for the executive staff to navigate. JOB SUMMARY As a Strategy Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Director of Strategy & Value Creation. This position offers a unique exposure to managing existing companies and contributing to the IDC’s long-term strategy and investment thesis. We are seeking a dynamic, highly skilled individual that is able to bridge strategy, operations, and finance. The ideal candidate is a beneficiary of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement, reflecting our commitment to empowering our community and upholding our core values. ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Conduct rigorous market analysis to evaluate ideal areas for investment opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic initiatives, utilizing cross-domain frameworks and ensuring alignment with IDC’s goals and Inuvialuit interests.
  • Support management in monitoring operational and financial performance of portfolio companies.
  • Prepare and present analytical reports and recommendations to senior management and help create board-level presentations.
  • Build comprehensive financial models and conduct thorough financial analysis.
  • Play a pivotal role in M&A activities, including deal sourcing, due diligence, and integration.
  • Integrate risk management to support decision making.
  • Support critical ad hoc projects throughout ICG.
QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must be/have:
  • Completed a degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Minimum two years experience in consulting, investment banking, private equity, or similar roles.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and high attention to detail.
  • Robust analytical mindset and adept problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in PowerPoint.
  • Hands-on experience building financial models in Excel.
  • Familiarity with financial statements and experience conducting thorough financial analysis.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adaptability based on shifting priorities.
  • Understanding of Inuvialuit history and culture and an interest in Northern economic development.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
  • Knowledge and experience with data visualization tools.
