Summary
We are launching a ClimateTech venture that will enable crop input retailers and producers to more effectively execute and learn from on-farm trials with growers to accelerate the adoption of sustainable inputs. We are looking for an advisor with deep experience in supporting on-farm trials and data-driven agronomy decisions looking to shape early product design sprints with our customers.
Please note: This is not an employee opportunity at Diagram Ventures, but an opportunity in a new company created through our venture studio model. This company will be independent of Diagram Ventures.
The opportunity
Growers need local on-farm evidence to build trust in sustainable inputs (e.g., biologicals, cover crops) and identify the most suitable applications for their unique needs as their performance is highly variable based on local conditions.
Over the next decade, the sustainable crop inputs market is expected to double to over $100B. However, agribusinesses are not equipped to drive the volume and quality of on-farm trials required to support growers in this transition. Our new venture enables more efficient and effective on-farm trials through automating data integrations, managing operations across trial stakeholders, and synthesizing learnings across trials.
This venture has been significantly de-risked, with solid traction from leading North American crop input retailers and manufacturers. This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to play a pivotal role in the direction of a new product that will accelerate the adoption of sustainable farming practices.
Who we’re looking for
We are assembling the dream team of entrepreneurs and technologists, and we are now looking for an accomplished Advisor to help build the venture and guide the strategic vision.
Key responsibilities
- Build customer rapport through supporting as a subject-matter expert on field trial management in customer design sprints and sales discussions
- Drive early thinking and customer discussions on key data-focused workstreams:
- Identifying and prioritizing data sources most critical data sources to integrate for trials in scope
- Data cleanup and translation to make agronomic data (e.g., soil test results, field boundaries, scouting notes) usable
- Statistical analysis of trial results
- Help inform product roadmap and bring a critical perspective on feasibility and timelines relating to agronomic data ingestion, clean-up, and synthesis for trials
- Work closely with the founding team to shape the product vision of the company
The ideal candidate:
Experience
- Experience driving field trials for sustainable farm practices such as enhanced efficiency fertilizers, disease-resistant seeds, biologicals, cover crops, and precision agronomy prescriptions
- Solid understanding of field trial data science
- Foundational understanding of agronomic science
- Highly analytical with demonstrated expertise in data science

- Deep understanding of machine learning and AI applications in data synthesis
- Experience working in fast-growth environments in early-stage companies
