Job Description

Ministry of ForestsCampbell River (Hybrid) Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Stewardship Officer $77,718.46 - $99,452.15 annually The Ministry of Forests is responsible for supporting a sustainable and competitive future for BC’s Forest sector, while taking action to keep forests healthy and protect communities in the face of climate change and extreme weather events. The Stewardship Officer provides senior professional services including team leadership, review of forest stewardship proposals and preparation of recommendations to decision makers. The Stewardship Team in Campbell River administers forest stewardship plans and the woodlot program, leads the local Forest and Range Evaluation Program and provides input to the Ministry’s timber supply review process and other landscape level processes.   • Master’s degree (or higher) in the natural resource field and three (3) years’ directly related experience working in forest resource management such as forest tenures, silviculture, harvesting, stewardship or planning; OR,
  • Bachelor’s degree in the natural resource field and five (5) years’ directly related experience working in forest resource management such as forest tenures, silviculture, harvesting, stewardship or planning.
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC).
  • Experience in negotiating and consulting with partners in natural resource management.
  • Experience supervising, leading coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Experience negotiating and/or building relationships with First Nations.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
