Job Description

The Legal Clinic, servicing The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, Lanark County, northern Frontenac County and northern Lennox and Addington counties requires a lawyer or a paralegal with a passionate interest in representing low income clients in areas of clinic law with an emphasis on housing and social assistance. The successful candidate will be working out of our main office in Perth, Ontario, a rural community on the Rideau Lakes system and within a one hour drive to both Ottawa and Kingston. This is a full time permanent position. Qualifications A practicing lawyer or paralegal licensed by the Law Society of Ontario with up to 5 years of experience in legal clinic work Must be willing to work as a member of a team of dedicated professionals committed to social justice and strong, effective client representation. Litigation and trial experience with strong negotiation skills Ability to work with high needs clients in a patient, respectful and empathetic manner Excellent client file management High degree of computer literacy Special consideration will be given to candidates withKnowledge of CIMS software Fluency in the French LanguageResident or will be resident within the clinic catchment area within 60 days of hire Compensation $50,000.00 – $90,000.00 (depending on position and experience) After qualifying period, health dental and long term disability package and defined benefit pension plan.
