The Environmental Engineering and Consulting team delivers solutions for complex environmental challenges using our regulatory expertise and implementing practical and cost-effective compliance management processes and programs. We address our clients’ biggest concerns around permitting, ecoservices, assessment, and remediation. Our highly trained and experienced engineers and scientists, environmental and remediation specialists, geologists, hydrogeologists, biologists, and environmental compliance specialists work with both public- and private-sector clients, delivering turnkey solutions. A DAY IN THE LIFE Our Staff Engineer position is located in Valley Forge, PA As a key member of the Engineering team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including: Completes scientific and engineering analysis under direct supervisionAssists in developing project document deliverable outlines and layouts, technical writing of reports, data interpretation, permits, and development of graphical presentations in a logical and professional mannerConducts field inspections, reconnaissance, and field activities per regulatory standards as directedDevelops and strengthens technical capabilities within a selected area of technical expertiseBecomes proficient in field sampling, inspections, data collection, QA/QC of data results, data reporting, synthesis and analysisBecomes knowledgeable of regulatory standards in area of technical background or technical responsibilityCoordinates with technical staff as necessaryAssists in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects as necessaryTracks project hours and utilizes time effectively to complete assigned tasks within assigned timeframe(s).Communicates with Project Manager when potential issues are foreseen or potential issues arise that may inhibit performing tasks within the allotted schedule and budgetMaintain confidentiality at all timesExercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programsParticipate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team effortsKeep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshopsPerform other duties as assignedYOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or universityNo Formal work experience required; relevant internship or 1-2 years of entry-level experience preferredExperience performing environmental collection, monitoring, sampling, testing and basic evaluationKnowledge of computer aided software (Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.)Strong communication, problem solving skills, analytical skills, and organization skills with excellent attention to detailAbility to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment where you handle multiple project assignments and meet strict deadlinesAbility and willingness to safely perform fieldwork and travel - ability to mobilize to a site with little notice may be occasionally needed. Travel may include overnight trips.Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving recordComplete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher classesCurrently have an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or plan to obtain one within one year of starting preferredWORK CONDITIONS The work environment may vary greatly depending on the nature of the work that is assigned. Initially this position may require full-time or nearly full-time presence in the office or at job site locations as part of training and to gain experience with construction norms.
