Position SummaryAs a Sr. Payroll Specialist with Canadian and US experience, you will be responsible for accurately processing payroll for employees in both countries, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. You will play a critical role in maintaining payroll records, resolving payroll discrepancies, completing payroll accounting and providing exceptional service to our employees.Please note this position is a One Year Part -Time Contract (20 hours per week)Work location and travelThis position is remote/hybrid. Our home office is located in Mississauga, ON. While there are no regular office days, there may be meetings you would be expected to attend in the office.How you will be contributingManage and process end-to-end semi-monthly payroll for employees in Canada and the United States.Calculate wages, deductions, and withholdings accurately, including taxes, benefits, and other deductions.Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local tax laws and regulations in Canada and the United States and implement necessary changes.Complete filings for all states, provinces or jurisdictions, as required.Processing of terminated employees, and complete offboarding in accordance with local legislative policies, including Record of Employment and timely submission to Service Canada.Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare reports for management, finance, and accounting teams.Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and deductions promptly and professionally.Collaborate with HR and finance teams and support enrolment of new hires, corporate benefits and RRSP contributions and deductions, and implementation of new policies, programs, and other relevant mattersResponsible for year-end payroll processes and reconciliations, including preparation of W-2s, T4s, and other tax-related documents.Responsible for preparation and remittance of EHT.Handle all US state or provincial registrations and reporting requirements as needed.Assist with the calculation of commissions, variable compensation and corresponding payments.Complete pension/retirement related filings and reconciliations.Work closely with external auditors during payroll audits and provide necessary documentation and support.Continuously seek opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency.What we are hoping to find in your backgroundCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.University Degree / College diploma with focus in Accounting / Business / HR preferred7+ years of experience in payroll processing, with specific experience in both Canadian and US payroll.Experience in ADP WFN is a requirement.Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.Experience in NetSuite an asset.Strong understanding of Canadian and US payroll laws, regulations, and tax requirements.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience with multi-state and multi-provincial payroll required.Willingness to take on other duties as needed.Who you will be working forServing leading equipment dealers and rental houses in North America, Australia & New Zealand, and Europe, Texada Software specializes in SaaS solutions tailored for the equipment rental, sales, and service industries.
