Wealth Management encompasses several lines of business, including Digital Investing, Private Wealth Canada, U.S. Wealth, Asset Management, and Insurance.As a member of the Wealth Data Management Office, this Sr. Manager role will work closely with the Data Management Lead providing strategic input and recommendation to evolve the overarching Wealth Management Data Governance Program – in alignment with enterprise-wide data principles to enable robust data quality and reduce overall data risk. Additionally, this role will work closely with individual business data owners to support the implementation of data management practices and data governance across all Wealth businesses – in alignment with the Wealth Management Data Governance Program.Creating a culture where data is managed as a valuable corporate asset, the role requires the ability to establish collaborative working relationships with Business and Technology partners to manage metadata and data flows that enable data usage and impact analysis for critical business decision-making, regulatory reporting, and operational uses.For the improvement and ongoing maintenance of data quality, the Sr. Manager will lead the development of dashboards, and perform data analysis and quality measurement to ensure data meets stakeholder guidelines.Additional responsibilities include providing input and support for the development of an integrated data inventory and strategic data roadmap to guide the creation of curated datasets that enable Wealth’s analytics use cases, business intelligence, and priority business needs.Accountabilities:Serve as a data management trusted advisor to develop Wealth data governance strategy, data management processes and best practices while ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide data principles, policies, and directives.Contributes to the overarching business planning and roadmaps to prioritize data management coverage across Wealth Management data assets for regulatory and compliance requirements and within application portfolios.Serves as a subject matter expert on relevant data regulations, networking internally and with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices in data governance.Designs and implements strategies to monitor the effectiveness of the Wealth data management & governance program and identify, manage, and mitigate current and emerging risks.Develops strategy for data management tool adoption leveraging approved enterprise tools.Provides support on data management process implementation and sustainment activities to ensure stakeholder awareness and adoption of data governance in work including but not limited to development of business tools and end use procedure documentation.Provides support to projects and/or manages operational changes including supporting Technology with the validation and testing of systems.Supports the management of BMO’s data as a key asset that facilitates effective decision making.Analyzes structured and unstructured data to support the design and development of a business / group curated data model.Contributes to the development of business/group data strategies and data governance policies, procedures, and processes.Develops data solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.Provides advice and guidance to assigned business/group on implementation of data solutions.Identifies and implements the optimum means to collect, process, analyze and report on information and ensure ongoing accuracy, integrity, and security.Participates in the timely resolution of operating/technical problems or manages escalation with other BMO technical support groups.Assists in the identification of change impacts through requirements gathering, mapping, and documenting current and proposed processes.Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders and ensures alignment.Supports development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.Monitors and reports on data management requirements and compliance issues, impacts and resolution status to leadership and data governance team.Supports the assessment, root cause analysis, and formulating proposed solutions/remediation strategies to improve data quality.Escalates data and compliance issues.Conducts needs assessments, identifies gaps and provides suggestions to improve and streamline data management processes based on operational insights.Documents and maintains operational procedures and processes for data management practices.Builds change management plans of varying scope and type; leads or participates in a variety of change management activities including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives.Develops stakeholder communications and training in support of data management process implementation.Supports the resolution of data issues by coordinating stakeholders in the information chain.Performs quality assurance activities to ensure handling, storage, and collection of data complies with Bank Policy and regulatory requirements.Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.Typically, between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Skilled in the data management tooling (e.g., metadata, data lineage, etc.). Informatica experience is helpful (e.g., data catalog, business glossary, data policy, and data quality). Skilled in statistical analysis environments (e.g., R, MATLAB, SPSS, or SAS) is a plus.Skilled in working with BI tools such as Power BI, relational databases, Netezza, Hadoop-based and AWS frameworks.Knowledge in working with SQL, Python, Java, and C/C++.Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth.Data driven decision making – In-depth.Compensation and Benefits: $92,400.00 - $171,600.00 Pay Type: SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
