Job Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Pharmacy will be responsible for overseeing all activities under the Janssen portfolio, Ophthalmology portfolio and Infusion portfolio. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for the performance and management of all the pharmacists reporting to him/her directly, as well as of the Supervisor who in turn will manage team leads and caseworkers. The role has accountability for the overall performance and success of this Pharmacy POD in alignment with the vision and priorities of Biopharma & Provider Solutions. The incumbent must have a passion for business, solid clinical and operational experience, and make a difference by leading and developing the specialty pharmacy team to build accountability, drive business results and provide exceptional patient care. The Sr. Manager role is a successor role for the Director, Pharmacy and knowledge of the entire Pharmacy as well as back-up for the other Sr. Manager roles is required.

Section A – Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, supervision, and oversight for the assigned department and pharmacy functions.

  • Oversight of all processes related to the dispensing of infusion medications to INVIVA and other clinics, all medications under the Ophthalmology portfolio as well as the entire Janssen portfolio at the Ontario McKesson Specialty Pharmacy.

  • Responsible for organizing regular touchpoints with Bio Advanced Coordinators and other Janssen contacts and addressing concerns.

  • Ensuring the inventory at the clinic for Janssen and Ophthalmology products are up-to-date and reconciled regularly.

  • Ensuring that the pharmacy is providing exemplary customer service to ophthalmology clinics, physicians, and patients.

  • Responsibility and oversight of operations including implementing departmental initiatives, tracking and reporting on departmental KPIs and SLAs.

  • Ensures accurate and timely processing and billing of patient prescriptions to payers.

  • Manage operations, resources and ensure efficiencies as required to maintain customer satisfaction.

  • Develop, implement and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all expectations are followed to meet SOX compliance.

  • Manage data to ensure efficiency, good productivity and avoid duplication of efforts, etc.

  • Responsible for providing employees with timely, candid, and constructive feedback; developing employees to their full potential and providing challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.

  • Hiring, disciplinary, and termination duties of personnel.

  • Regular auditing and review of Supervisor and Pharmacists performance.

  • Implement training programs as needed to ensure the development of personnel.

  • Monitor monthly financials and Accounts Receivable trends for the POD.

  • Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits.

  • Providing general customer service for patients and handling escalated concerns.

  • Ongoing communication and contact with staff on goals, objectives and pharmacy activities.

  • Adherence to standards of care governed by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

  • Operate and promote behaviours that uphold McKesson i2Care and iLead principles.

  • Ensure company policies and regulatory standards are at the forefront of all activities and decisions.

  • Other duties as required.

Section B – Key Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree.

  • A valid license in good standing with the applicable College of Pharmacists is required.

  • Ability to assess and understand financial reports and business reports.

  • Proficient in using Microsoft applications to present and manipulate data.

  • Possess strong working knowledge of Kroll and its capabilities.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in Specialty Pharmacy or related field.

  • 3-5 years of people and progressive pharmacy management experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Time management skills to ensure business timelines are met.

  • Excellent customer service and be able to set the same expectations from the rest of the team.

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to build relationships with key physicians as well as their clinic staff.

  • Exercises sound knowledge and good judgment.

  • Accountable and results-oriented.

  • Able to travel as business needs arise; possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Strong leadership skills, can lead, inspire, mentor, develop and guide a team.

In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$95,100 - $158,500
