Job Description

About the role:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps, problems and solutions within the market they serve. They use their knowledge to help clients make better decisions, solve complex issues and execute new practices that propel clients’ businesses toward key objectives. A Senior Director publishes these insights as pragmatic and/or provocative research. Additionally, they reinforce Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via virtual meetings, sales support visits, Gartner conferences and industry events.

What you will do:

  • Deliver impactful insight to guide clients to the best actions for them and their organizations. 50% of your work week will be spent on virtual client calls with a wide variety of companies and governments. On these calls you will answer questions such as – How do we manage custom ERP extensions using platform as a service (PaaS)? or should we adopt a single- or multiple-vendor ERP strategy?
  • Research, analyze, and predict market trends and shifts (15% of work week). Predict howspecific markets are developing, help clients in their selection process and assist vendors in overall positioning
  • Apply critical thinking skills to de-construct and reframe challenging client questions. Identify the root cause of a client’s barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward
  • Use the research insights gained to create high quality, clear, actionable, “must-have” papers, presentations, and videos (20% of your work week). Content is based on research best practices and methodologies
  • Deliver presentations at Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings
  • Collaborate. Actively participate in research communities to develop and refine ideas. Provide high quality and timely research content peer review. Be able to help your team develop consensus research positions.
  • Proactively support internal stakeholders (e.g. Research Engagement Services (RES), Sales and Service) to serve and retain clients and to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business
  • Build credibility as a domain or industry expert to represent Gartner research, methodology and strategy
  • Be a mentor and a coach to team members.

What you will need:

  • 12+ years of relevant field or industry experience, with 5+ years as a member of an IT organization, or as an employee of a vendor focused on ERP. This experience will include developing strategy, business systems integration, vendor evaluation and selection and the operation, upgrade, and evolution of the ERP domain.
  • Experience implementing cloud applications from vendors such as Oracle, Anaplan, SAP, Workday, Microsoft.
  • Basic knowledge of ERP instance and consolidation strategy.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with technology executives
  • Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
  • Ability to learn, and the willingness to take a position
  • Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global and matrixed team
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables
  • Demonstrate superior analytical skills, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions
  • Subject matter expertise comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements
  • Learning agile and adept with navigating highly matrixed environments
  • Ability to effectively adjust communication style to different audiences
  • Willingness and ability to travel about 10%
