The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women’s and 10 men’s programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation’s premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as “The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Associate Athletic Director of Inclusion for the Athletics department. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director and works closely with Rutgers University Division of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement ( DICE ) department leaders, university administrators, and external partners.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Develops and implements strategies to foster an inclusive and equitable environment for all student-athletes, coaches, staff, and administrators.
Fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion within the university’s athletics department, while also adhering to the regulations and guidelines set forth by Rutgers University, the
NCAA , and the Big Ten Conference.
Implements an athletics department diversity inclusion strategic plan that is in line with the University Diversity Strategic Plan and facilitates education and training sessions for coaches, student-athletes, and staff members.
Collaborates with campus and external partners to promote a culture of inclusivity and support for student-athletes, coaches, and staff members.
Collaborates with Scarlet Knights for Life in inclusive initiatives and programming related to student-athlete development.
Creates an environment where all athletes, coaches, and staff feel valued, respected, and supported.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Five (5) years of relevant experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Previous experience in diversity and inclusion work, preferably in collegiate athletics setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Commitment to promoting equity and social justice within athletics at the university, conference, and national levels.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., sociology, diversity studies, sports management).
Knowledge of
NCAA
and Big Ten Conference regulations and guidelines related to diversity and inclusion
