Location:Hybrid (Downtown, Toronto)Duration:12 months
Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto is looking for aSQL Database Admin - GCP, Azure tosupport the MS SQL Server on-premises as well as on public cloud, andassist in the team effort to maximize the availability, security, and performance of the databases. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.Typical Day in role:Configuration planning & deploying MSSQL servers on public cloud and on-premiseserversPerformance tunning, capacity planning and monitoringDatabase maintenance/housekeeping including database rebuilds/re-indexing/expansion andarchivingTrouble-shoot MSSQL server problems and assist in the resolution of application problemsMSSQL Server Software currency resolution including Patching/Upgrades/MigrationsAssist in database code promotions & data fixes following internal change control processDisaster Recovery/High Availability (DR/HA) support with backup, recovery and failover/failback of local and remote replicated databasesProvide DBA support to development/implementation projects as assigned, doinginstallations, database loading, migrations, testing, and go live support etc.Follow Database best practices, security and change control process of the bankMust-Have Skills:8 to 10+ years of progressive technical working experience as a Database Administrator5+ years of experience with Public Cloud including GCP Cloud SQL (MSSQL) and Azure MI/DBaaS/IaaS database administrationHands on experience with MSSQL Services (SSRS/SSAS/SSIS/PolyBase, R Service, Power BI etc.) and MSSQL Instance/Database Installation/Configuration/HardeningHands on experience with MSSQL Servers 2022/2019/2017, Database Security, HA/DR, Performance & Tuning, Database Backup, and prior versions DB AdministrationHands on experience with Scripting and Automation with Power Shell, C#, VB Scripts, SSIS, TSQL etc.Nice-To-Have Skills:Microsoft and/or Google Data Platform certificationWindows Servers 2019/2016 and prior versionsAD, Firewall IP/Port, domain trust/authentication methods related to MSSQL/Windows database connectivityApplication side tuning vs. server-side tuningSetup MSSQL Always-On, Availability groups & Database ReplicationLogical & Physical Backup/Recovery/Compression techniquesSoft Skills Required:Good analytical, problem solving, trouble shooting and automation skillsBe a quick learner, with good communication (verbal/written) skills tocollaborate with other technical teams and business stakeholders - this includes attending meetings and sharing technical documentationsEducation:Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Math, or related disciplineFinance professional is committed to creating an inclusive environment where all team members and clients feel like they belong.
