Job DescriptionSpecialist Audio Visual TechnologyCorporate Service – IT Operations Status: (1) Regular Full Time positionSalary Range: $89,469 to $111,834 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits)Work Mode: Hybrid i.e. 3-4 days on-site per week or as per operational requirement *see below for more details about this work mode.Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, BramptonReporting to the Supervisor Technology Support in the Information Technology division and taking direction from the Advisor Technical Legislative Services, you will provide complex audio-visual services including design, procure, install/maintain all audio-visual systems and solutions in council chambers; support council chambers equipment, production operation of audio video equipment in council chambers, as well as other audio video equipment throughout the Region of Peel facilities including but not limited to remote offices such as Paramedic Stations, LTC, etc.You will work concurrently with multiple teams to plan, budget, coordinate, implement, manage, and support the complete life-cycle of audio visual technology products and solutions for council chambers and meeting/conference rooms. This includes detailed project planning, measurement and analysis of data, complex testing matrices, and the creation of work-flow processes across all client and stakeholder touch-points.What you will do in this role:Work with internal and external Project Managers so all audio-visual requirements are provided for the appropriate installation of audio-visual infrastructure.Provide complex technical support and advice on all audio visual systems and solutions in Council Chambers and other Regional facilities.Design, set-up, operate and maintain all audio-visual equipment within the Region’s facilities including Council Chambers, PAMA, and other Region of Peel facilities. Liaise with elected officials, staff, and outside consultants and vendors with regards to events and programs.Trouble-shoot and diagnose complex system problems, perform fundamental repairs, and maintain an inventory log of all audio-visual equipment.Conduct training sessions for staff on the effective and safe operation of audio-visual systems and equipment.Ensure technical compliance and integration with the Region’s audio-visual standards and approach to hybrid meeting procedures. Work with business units to understand their specific needs and design audio visual systems to support their needs and budget for new rooms, buildings or renovations projects in Region of Peel facilities; assist in the purchase of audio-visual supplies and materials and the installation of audio-visual systems, consulting with vendors as needed.Work with audio visual vendors on the repair and replacement of defective or end of life audio visual equipment.Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as cameras, display screens and monitors, video conferencing equipment etc.Managing ongoing deployment of firmware updates to ensure currency, and leading projects to evolve and modernize.Monitor trends and developments in audio visual and meeting management technology.Work collaboratively with Clerks Technical Team to support meeting of Regional Council and Committee.Provide timely response and solutions to Council Chamber technology issues.Perform other duties as required.What the role requires:A degree or diploma in an audio-visual technology program or related discipline combined with at least 5 years’ experience providing audio-visual services or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) and CTS-I certification is required.Extensive knowledge and experience in the use and setup of audio-visual equipment including LCD displays, data projectors, video and digital cameras, portable sound systems, conference microphones and discussion systems, audio recorders, assistive listening devices, digital mixers, video and audio cable connections and audio-visual control systems.Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of audio-visual control systems, projection systems, media servers, multimedia display, sound and paging systems, lighting systems, audio and video streaming and encoding systems, video conferencing solutions and audio video networking.Experience with Creston AV Control Solutions and Systems, Extron, Poly, Cisco, Biamp, DSP, Digital/Media, Newtek is required.Experience with videoconferencing Technology such as Microsoft Teams, Webex.Structured/Network cabling experience is required.Networking experience, knowledge of routing and subnets, configuring routers and switches.Proficiency with Apple OS X and IOS, Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, personal computer laptops, desktops and peripherals such as iPhone, tablets, printers and scanners and a working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory environments.Lifting of equipment routinely required.Skills/Abilities:Strong understanding of audio-visual principles and how they may apply in a public sector environment.Support internal staff, ELT and EXLT in operating audio visual solutions in meeting rooms/conference rooms as needed to ensure successful operation of equipment.Ability to communicate effectively with clients with a strong focus on customer service.Ability to trouble-shoot, diagnose and perform fundamental repairs on audio visual equipment installed in various facilities.Excellent customer service attitude and focus.Excellent communication and public relation skills required to deal with staff, public and elected officials.Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.Nice to have:Experience in a municipal environment providing audio-visual services is considered an asset.Experience in the setup and operation of municipal council and committee meetings preferred.Experience in operation and maintenance of complex audio, video and paging systems, and video production and post-production techniques, including the use of professional grade production cameras and professional video software such as Adobe Premier and Media Composer are assets.Perks @ Peel and why you will love working for us:Comprehensive Health, Dental, Vision benefit plan including psychological health (effective start date)Automatic enrolment into OMERS pension plan (where applicable)Accrue Vacation on a monthly basis up to 3 weeks per annum3 Paid personal days and floating holidaysFlexible hours supporting your wellness and wellbeingAnnual performance review and merit increases based on performance (where applicable)Supportive leadership and a culture of respect and inclusionAccess to tuition reimbursement (where applicable) and learning and development resourcesWork Location: In this role, youll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement.
