Volunteer Position

Position(s) Available
  • Sociology DSC Co-Presidents (2)
A Department Student Council President advocates on behalf of the students in their department. In addition, the DSC President is the leader of a committee of undergraduate students that is responsible for the planning and execution of events tailored to their specific department. The DSC President reports to the ASUS Academics Commissioner.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

8 month-term from September 1st, 2024 to April 30th, 2025. If this position is subject to an honorarium, payouts will be in accordance with the Human Resources Honoraria Policy Grid 9.05.02 which can be accessed here:

Time Commitment and Responsibilities
  • Advocate for the interests of students in their respective department
  • Organize, promote, and execute academic and social events for the department
  • Prepare for and attend every Arts and Science Faculty Board
  • Coordinate administration of USAT evaluations
  • Submit a budget, strategic plan, and constitution to the Academics Commissioner
  • Participate in DSC Assembly, to be held once a month
  • Attend a monthly meeting with the Academics Commissioner or the Deputy Academics Commissioner
  • Follow all provisions in the DSC Charter
