Role Overview Celestica is the brand behind the brands you love in tech. Celestica designs and manufactures cutting-edge technology solutions and is partnered with some of the world’s largest companies in tech, enterprise, communications, automotive, aerospace & defence, healthtech, industrial & smart energy, capital equipment, consumer, and robotics. The focus of Celestica’s Legal team is to support global business teams on all commercial matters, both proactively and as issues arise. The successful candidate will become part of a global close-knit legal team based out of Celestica’s global headquarters in Toronto. Please note that this is a 1 year contract opportunity. Responsibilities Build trusted relationships and provide support to the Corporate Development and Corporate Strategy groups on mergers, acquisitions and strategic investments Provide legal advice and serve as a trusted advisor to all of Celestica’s operating subsidiaries on a broad range of commercial matters Support the contracts management team in the escalation of negotiations with customers, suppliers, and vendors Identify and prioritize legal and commercial risks within the business Apply knowledge and experience to novel scenarios and provide advice on sometimes unprecedented legal issues Work with international teams in various time-zones in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment Critical Skills The ideal candidate for this role will have: A track record of developing strong interpersonal working relationships and a desire to work in a team-oriented, open and collegial environment Effective time-management skills and an ability to triage, prioritize, multi-task, and balance requests in order to support a variety of business functions while juggling competing priorities Excellent negotiation skills Confidence and experience as a self-starter ready to play a lead (or solo) role on projects, as well as a keen desire to complete collaborative teamwork within the legal team and cross-functionally Solid business judgment and an ability to provide legal advice in a user-friendly, concise and articulate manner Ability to interpret and communicate external legal advice properly and pragmatically Strong analytical thinking and ability to conduct contractual and business risk analysis comfortably Curiosity, creativity and a solutions-oriented mindset Qualifications Law degree A minimum of three to five years of relevant corporate legal experience, specifically mergers and acquisitions and complex commercial work (cross-border transactions, securitization, joint ventures and investments) ideally having started at a top tier law firm, followed by experience in-house at a major corporation (publicly-traded will be a plus) Any experience working with information technology, communications, consumer electronics, aerospace and defence, medical, alternative energy and/or manufacturing companies will be an asset
