At Robert Allan Ltd., we are committed to delivering the highest safety and operational integrity standards for vessel owners worldwide.Reports to: Manager, Naval Architecture and Technical Manager, Ship StructuresPosition Summary: Robert Allan Ltd. is seeking an experienced specialist in the structural design of tugs, commercial workboats, barges, and other steel or aluminum craft to join our design teams developing various vessel types for local and international clients at our Vancouver office. Working remotely will be considered from within Canada.Duties & Anticipated Tasks:Structural design drawings (AutoCAD 2D) and supporting calculations3D modeling of ship structuresSupporting the development of structure-related drawing templates & guidelinesParticipation in various technical groups within the companyMentoring junior technical staffSkills:Minimum of 5 years of experience in steel ship structural design & analysis of steel and/or aluminum vesselsIn-depth familiarity with marine classification society rules and first principles calculationsPractical knowledge of welding, repairs, modifications, conversionsAble to work independently, manage priorities and apply sound judgment and decision-making to solve complex technical problemsHigh level of proficiency in AutoCAD and ExcelExperience in 3D modeling using Rhino, CADMATIC or other similar packagesShipyard experience preferredEligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia an assetAdditional Requirements: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid Canadian work permit).Salary: $70,000 – $95,000 CAD/year (commensurate with experience and qualifications)Why Robert Alan Ltd.?You will join a company renowned for its strong reputation and track record of success in the industry.
