About the opportunity: The Shift Manager is accountable for all aspects of warehousing operations for assigned shift. The primary goal is to ensure that safety, accuracy and efficiencies are in place in receiving & storing products; and that orders are picked, prepared and loaded in a timely manner to ensure the on-time delivery of products requested by customers. The position is responsible for producing all warehousing metrics including safety, security, quality, cost and productivity. In addition, the position is expected to manage or participate in capital, cost saving and CI projects and to champion process improvements and raise the level of accountability, productivity and decision making of staff. The attributes we are looking for: Manage the operations of Lactalis warehouses by ensuring that key requirements and targets are achieved in health & safety, site security, GMP, product safety, quality, costs, productivity, inventory accuracy, order accuracy, on-time loading, customer satisfaction, staffing and capital/ technology/process improvement initiatives. Meet short and long-term storage needs (including 3PL contracts, service levels & costs) by liaising with 3PL providers to determine options and costs, conducting research and developing alternatives to reduce current storage costs and ensuring future storage volumes are accommodated, creating and presenting business cases for recommended alternatives. Manage staff by determining labour requirements, setting efficient work schedules, hiring, setting priorities & objectives, reviewing performance and providing timely feedback, determining training and development needs, coaching, motivating, providing direction and taking disciplinary measures as needed. Participate in collective agreement negotiations as a member of the management team during union-company contract negotiations by representing warehousing interests during bargaining sessions; develop and propose contract changes that will benefit (cost/flexibility/efficiency) the company and specifically warehouse operations. Provide leadership to improve Health & Safety performance by applying the elements of the corporate health & safety program. Maintain safe working conditions of warehouse equipment (e.g. racking, forklifts and shunt trucks) through preventative maintenance and regular audits.Prevent incidents through hazards identification, education and training.Immediately address unsafe situations and behaviours. Prepare and analyze various reports such as labour utilization, fill rates, inventory accuracy. Investigate deviations from plan and develop and execute corrective action plans when necessary. Manage the department’s budget by controlling, monitoring and justifying expenditures versus plan. Develop and execute strategies in support of Supply Chain, Plant and Corporate goals. What you will bring: University in a SCM related discipline or equivalent business experience. Minimum 5 years management experience in a fast paced and food related warehouse. Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and WMS (Warehouse Management System). Proven leadership skills with direct and indirect staff Strong analytical, problem solving, planning, and decision-making skills. People leadership skills and ability to develop and coach employees. Demonstrated experience implementing best practices in warehouse operations and management. Team player, understanding broader business and its requirements as well as the priorities of customers and other functional groups. Leadership, planning and execution skills including strong communication and organizational skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office (excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint) and SAP or other WMS systems.
