Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Trust Fund Accountant to join our BPA team in North York.

The Senior Trust Fund Accountant is responsible for managing financial transactions of trust funds for select key clients at BPA. This role works independently within the trust accounting function to ensure timely and accurate record keeping while complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Please note that the office location is currently Toronto (1263 Wilson Ave.); however, the office will be relocating to Vaughan (Langstaff Rd. & Highway 50) in the coming months.

This position is 100% in-office.

The Senior Trust Fund Accountant will:

  • Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain up-to-date GL transactions
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Reconcile all balance sheet and income statement accounts; investigate outstanding items and develop recommendations to resolve
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements where needed
  • Prepare government remittances;
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare bank transfers;
  • Prepare cash flow, investment and other reports as required by clients;
  • Prepare working papers and assist during annual audits;
  • Evaluate and handle client related inquiries in a timely manner;
  • Handle day-to-day accounting duties for the clients.
  • Develop Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators to monitor overall efficiency and performance

To be successful as a Senior Trust Fund Accountant with BPA, you will need:

  • 3- 5 years of working in an office environment with a focus on accounting;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting
  • Maintaining a high standard of care and professionalism
  • Excellent software skills, including MS office applications with intermediate to advanced level in MS Excel;
  • Team player with collaborative mindset
  • Strong knowledge of trust laws, fiduciary responsibilities, tax regulations
