The Technical Product Manager - Data Experiences role will focus on the following objectives:
- Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to:
- Set the vision for the following user groups
- External Users:Penn Entertainment customers that use applications within the Penn ecosystem
- Internal Users:Internal Penn Entertainment Groups such as Marketing and Risk and Trading to streamline daily operations and help deliver positive experiences to our customers
- Build and manage the roadmap to align on the projects we will deliver to align with our Vision
- Work cross functionally across the data organization to identify, scope, and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver committed roadmap work
- Evaluate outcomes of committed projects to determine success
Typical Work Day at theScore:
- Facilitate/Contribute to data team ceremonies to
- Define the roadmap
- Drive roadmap aligned work to completion
- Unblock the team and proactively manage issues that arise
- Enable the team to plan & prioritize with confidence
- Facilitate meetings with business/product stakeholders to understand end state objectives for projects with in scope data work
- Collaborate with team members (PMO, Technical Project Managers, Tech Leads, Individual Contributors, etc.) across the engineering organization to identify in-scope teams, dependencies, and technical requirements for project work
- Facilitate ticket parties to break down projects into manageable units of work in the team backlog
- Collaborate with Data Org leadership to manage the backlog and plan future work iterations for the development team
- Manage day-to-day operations of the team, using tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Coordinate release cycle of internal tools and manage cross team dependencies.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in product management in a technical environment.
- Strong project management skills and ability to present work to executive staff.
- Background in Computer Science, Business, IT, or related field.
- Must be a self-starter, a team player, and driven.
- Outstanding written/oral, organizational, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify and interact with the producing and consuming stakeholders that interact with the Penn Interactive data platform
- Have an understanding of the various components of a data pipeline related to data ingestion, transformation, and presentation
- Have an understanding of the various components in a backend system, including microservices, databases, and messaging systems.
- Experience creating product specifications
- Experience communicating across diverse cultures, work styles, and personalities.
Nice to haves:
- Previous start-up, consumer mobile and/or consulting experience is a strong asset
- Familiarity with Cloud Services - Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, Amazon Redshift, Kafka
- Knowledge/Familiarity with SQL
- Experience with monitoring tools like DataDog, Splunk, and Prometheus.
- Ability to read source code
