Senior Technical Manager, Brampton, ON

Join Canada's largest retail pharmacy company in a pivotal role as a Senior Technical Manager. You will be leading a dynamic team committed to redefining the future of pharmacy management systems. This role involves leveraging advanced technologies, including Java/Spring Boot microservices, Google Cloud Platform with Kubernetes, and modern front-end frameworks such as React. Here, your contributions will directly shape the digital transformation of healthcare technology, ensuring both high-impact results and a rewarding team experience.

As part of our commitment to revolutionizing pharmacy management, we are seeking a Senior Technical Manager who thrives in fast-paced, Agile team environments. You will play a crucial role in the development, design, and strategic overhaul of our next-generation system. This position offers a unique chance to upscale your skills through hands-on experience on cloud platforms and best practices in software engineering.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide support and technical expertise to the Center of Excellence of the Pharmacy Solutions and Technology group.
  • Ensure projects are completed according to aligned upon timeline. Ensure the application achieves quality goals and is easy to support post launch.
  • Solve complex problems related with technology going from identify the solution to the implementation in production environments.
  • Ensure Developer Experience is optimal removing barriers from the development process including an effective DevOps process.
  • Lead a team of direct reports including coaching and mentoring including hands-on assistance for team members.
  • Prioritize business requirements and technical requirements to establish a complete backlog and to ensure applications don’t accrue technical debt.
  • Ensure projects are completed leveraging modern architecture and technology aligned with Loblaw Technology approved technologies and governance.

What you Bring:

  • Hands-on experience with a strong background in modern software engineering and architecture including creating and working with Microservices in Spring boot framework.
  • Experience with Cloud Native Design Patterns. Cloud experience (preferably including some of GCP, Azure, PCF, OpenShift, Anthos, GKE). Strong understanding of Cloud API’s and scalability
  • API creation and RESTful services with API Gateways and asynchronous and synchronous microservice integration patterns
  • Relational (MySQL, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server) database experience
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git) and artifact repositories.
  • Experience within Healthcare would be an asset.
