Responsibilities

  • Work with regional managers on sales and corporate tax planning.
  • Ensure sales taxes are filed and paid according to prescribed deadlines
  • Assist in the preparation and review of the consolidated annual tax provision and facilitate the annual financial statement audit of tax accounts.
  • Assist in the review of transfer-pricing activities, develop support related to methodologies and documentation of various intercompany and cross-border transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain standardized working papers to support the annual tax provision
  • Responsible for tax installments and taxes payable for all entities within the Company; working with the Company’s corporate finance and foreign regional controllership teams.
  • Supervision of all tax examinations by external auditors and resolve tax issues in the most cost-effective manner. Liaise with domestic & overseas accountants, auditors, tax authorities, and outside advisors.
  • Assist the Corporate Controller/CFO in the design, execution, and maintenance of tax policies, tax processes and internal tax controls documentation.
  • Assess potential SRED and other R&D or tax credit/incentive eligibility.
  • Monitor legislative changes in Tax jurisdictions that may impact the Company and work with third-party advisors to address any consequences of such changes.
  • Perform detailed research on tax laws, regulations, and other legal authorities and prepare memos to support the Company’s tax positions.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with other departments, business units and external advisors.
  • Coordinate with relevant tax bodies on client issues, tax audits and appeals
  • Oversight and management of processes and preparation for T2, NR4, T1134, GST/HST return, T4, T4A and T5 slips, W2, 1099s, and assist in preparation of other variety of tax forms.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

Education & Experience

  • Completion of CPA In-Depth Tax Program or Master of Taxation would be ideal
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a public accounting firm
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel and word.
  • Excellent written and oral communication
