Senior Supervisor, Mine Operations or Central Control

Location: 

Sparwood, British Columbia, CA

Reporting to the General Supervisor, the Senior Supervisor, Mine Operations or Central Control is responsible for working closely with Mine Maintenance, Engineering, Processing, and the other Mine Operations Supervisors to lead and direct the crew’s daily activities in an autonomous haulage environment while working to support the long-term goals of operation. This position follows a 4x4 days and nights rotation.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities who will collaborate with and establish strong relationships across multi-disciplinary teams. This role requires versatility and ability to work with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced environment undergoing transformational change specifically with autonomous haulage. Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills including the ability to empower, coach, and mentor others are vital.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Measure the performance of the operating crew in achieving operating targets and strengthen employee performance and accountability through coaching and feedback
  • Communicate with other crew supervision, engineers, maintenance, processing, and human resources to coordinate mining activities in an efficient manner
  • Coordinate the shift activities with the supervisory team in both the mine and central control, ensuring a consistent implementation of mining practices to ensure that production consistently reaches or exceed target
  • Monitor operating conditions and make changes to respond to real-time input from both field operations and central control (road conditions, speed restrictions, etc)
  • Look for innovative ways to minimize cost and maximize production without impacting the commitment to safety
  • Perform other responsibilities as required and assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum eight years of mining experience, with five years of supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Strong digital literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and solid understanding of mine dispatch systems. Experience in autonomous haulage systems would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to hold one’s self accountable, and lead and work in a fast paces environment
  • Analytical and adaptable with a strong interest in continuous improvement

Salary Range: $122,000 - $151,000

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
