Who are we looking for?

Our Ontario EDO (Engineering Design Organization) is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to take on the role of Senior Structural Engineer to support our process-driven facilities projects. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience, and contribute to and be responsible for all structural engineering aspects of multi-discipline projects in various markets and businesses. With a strong diverse background in structural design and delivery of Water/Wastewater Treatment, Linear Water, Water resources, Organics Processing, Bulk Storage and Warehouses, Waste Transfer, Renewable Natural Gas, Environmental, Transportation, and Property and Buildings.

What you will bring to the team?

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario

Minimum 10-15 years of diverse structural engineering experience with a focus on facility design-type projects

  1. Excellent understanding of structural systems and practical design experience in designing process-driven facilities, water/earth retaining structures, pre-engineered buildings and their foundations, and shallow and deep foundation systems, to name a few.
  2. Conversant with the National Building Code of Canada - NBCC and provincial building codes, CSA codes for the design of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.
  3. Ability to develop designs to comply with project-specific output specifications
  4. Ability to take ownership and accountability for completed work
  5. Strong influencing skills and the ability to develop effective and trustworthy relationships both with project teams and within the organization
  6. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  7. Strong computer skills including experience in structural analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, ETABS, S-FRAME and ROBOT, and MS Office
  8. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a positive attitude
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The following skills would be considered an asset for this position:

  • Project management skills and budget and schedule controls
  • Knowledge of BIM 360 and REVIT
