The Capital Investment Returns Excellence Team at TELUS is dedicated to leading the planning, enablement, and governance of our ongoing capital investments, totaling approximately $2.6 billion. Our mission is to achieve superior capital returns through strategic oversight, best-in-class governance, and comprehensive capital planning. We aim to maximize the value of invested capital and ensure alignment financial performance.


As a Senior Strategy Manager within our team, you will play a pivotal role at the intersection of strategic, financial, and operational planning. You will collaborate with leaders across the business to provide critical insights and analysis on capital investment returns performance and drive our enterprise capital governance.
 

What you'll do

  • Develop Strategic Plans: Create multi-year integrated plans that align capital investment, expected returns, and resource allocation to drive optimal financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate Across Business Units: Partner closely with all our Business Units to understand their requirements and ensure capital investments align with their strategic goals.
  • Assess Performance: Conduct performance assessments and funnel analyses on investment opportunities to identify potential areas for improvement and growth.
  • Present to Executives: Design and deliver impactful presentations to executive leaders on capital performance and opportunities, providing clear and actionable insights.
  • Implement Best Practices: Develop and implement best-in-class processes, tools, and systems to support effective capital and ROI management.
  • Optimize Capital Budgets: Work with business unit primes to optimize capital budgets, drive improvements in capital management, track program progress, and review capital performance against key performance indicators (KPIs).
     

What you bring

  • Educational Background: Enthusiastic individual with a degree(s) in Finance or a related business discipline. A graduate degree such as an MBA, CPA, or CFA is preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a large multi-business unit organization. Telecommunications or systems development industry experience is a plus.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong team player with a collaborative mindset, capable of presenting complex information in an easily understood manner.
  • Presentation Skills: Accomplished storyteller with experience in building sleek presentations for effective discussions with executive leaders.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivated with high performance standards, able to navigate complex concepts and ambiguity with confidence.
  • Business and Financial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to assess benefits, costs, and risks with strong business and financial acumen.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Time Management: Excellent time management, organizational, and planning skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Experience in creating visually appealing and informative dashboards to track and analyze capital performance, providing stakeholders with clear insights and actionable recommendations.
Salary Range:  $94,000-$142,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
